The third chapter of the series on recent decades of art in Naples: Francesco Clemente’s large canvas, Carlo Alfano’s 1970 installation for Lucio Amelio, the Kabakovs’ “The Sick Child” and Valerio Adami’s sets for the San Carlo opera house.
25 June to 16 November 2026
Three artists from Campania, Andrea Bolognino, Effe Minelli and Raffaela Naldi Rossano, take apart the Neapolitan nativity scene, starting from Jimmie Durham’s “Presepio” in the museum’s collection. A traditional crib by Giuseppe Ercolano is shown too.
10 October to 23 November 2026
In the Sala Colonne, a sound installation by Liliana Moro that grew out of a workshop with eleven students from the Naples Academy of Fine Arts. The voices alternate and overlap: it is a room to walk through while listening, not to look at.
12 October 2026 to 12 April 2027
A coral reef crocheted by more than four thousand people around the world and split into six woollen islands: two of them come to the Casa della Fotografia at Villa Pignatelli. The project comes from the Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden.

Angelica Kauffmann and Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun side by side for the first time, with loans from the Uffizi, the Louvre and Warsaw. Rome and Naples are the thread: both painted for the Bourbon court and for travellers on the Grand Tour.
