Eight columns of pink travertine standing in a pool of water in Palazzo Strozzi's Renaissance courtyard, conceived by the Danish collective Superflex as a submerged habitat for a future with higher sea levels. Free, five minutes to see.

Seventy works by Mark Rothko fill the piano nobile of Palazzo Strozzi, curated by his son Christopher with Elena Geuna: Italy's first large retrospective of the painter. Rooms darkened on purpose for his colour fields.

New sculptures by French artist Jean-Marie Appriou in Palazzo Strozzi's Project Space: figures in aluminium, bronze, glass and wax that sit between human, animal and plant. A short, free stop, complementary to the Rothko show upstairs.
