Thirteen steel sculptures by Carel Visser, some up to eight metres tall, installed outdoors in the Rijksmuseum gardens and free to see without a museum ticket. First time this annual garden show focuses on a single Dutch sculptor.

Thirty chocolate sculptures and embroidered works by CATPC, the Congolese collective working from a reclaimed plantation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The title jokes, but the subject is serious: colonial cocoa exploitation, proceeds funding reforestation.

All one hundred prints of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi’s One Hundred Aspects of the Moon, by the last great innovator of Japanese printmaking: warriors, lovers and mythical beings. The show also explains why Van Gogh collected and studied his prints.

Some hundred works in the first Whistler retrospective in the Netherlands, with the Musée d’Orsay’s portrait of his mother, the Thames nocturnes and life-size society portraits. In The Hague, The Mesdag Collection shows his Amsterdam etchings.

De Kooning returns to the Netherlands a century after emigrating to New York. More than a hundred and twenty works put drawing at the centre of all his art, beside Excavation and Woman I, and two canvases hang in the Gallery of Honour near the Night Watch.

Photographer Kadir van Lohuizen followed the energy transition around the North Sea, offshore and on land: wind farms, hydrogen plants, CO₂ storage sites and data centres. The pictures hang in the Rijksmuseum’s photography gallery.

The last stop, after Basel and Cologne, of the retrospective on more than seventy years of Yayoi Kusama’s work: painting, sculpture, fashion, collage, happenings and two Infinity Mirrored Rooms from 2025. Entry is by timed booking only.

With the Centre Pompidou closed until 2030, more than eighty works from its collection come to Amsterdam: Matisse, from La Blouse roumaine to The Violinist at the Window, beside Picasso, Bonnard and Rothko. A chance Paris cannot offer now.
